An accomplished educator and administrator, Dr. Stapleton was appointed Drew’s principal in 2005. He believes educators play a key role in a child’s lifelong success and have a responsibility to teach their students all they can.
Before joining Drew, Dr. Stapleton was the assistant principal for Susan B. Anthony Academy, a public middle school serving 1,750 students in Queens, New York. He also has served in leadership positions in the Gifted and Talented Academy in Queens, the Winthrop Intermediate School, the Ebenezer Preparatory School in Brooklyn, and the New York City Department of Education. He began his career as a social studies and math teacher who integrated technology in the classroom.
Dr. Stapleton has a bachelor’s degree in management and finance and a master’s degree in economics from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. He also has a master’s degree in educational administration and a doctor of education degree from the Teachers College at Columbia University.
