To work together as a community of teachers, staff, students, families and volunteers to provide a learning environment that emphasizes high achievement and character development. |

Drew’s teaching approach is based on the belief that every child has gifts and talents that must be discovered and nurtured. All students are consistently encouraged to strive to do their best so they may reach their highest potential. A Drew education is one that supports strong intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth. |
Made up of small, flexible, schools within schools, Drew is organized into academies where students are taught by a team of four to six teachers. The Primary Academy serves students in grades pre-K-2; the Elementary Academy serves students in grades 3-5; and Drew’s Junior Academy serves students in grades 6-8.
Drew works in partnership with Edison Schools, one of the nation’s largest and most successful educational companies with experience in supporting charter schools. Technology is integrated throughout the entire curriculum that focuses on excellence in reading, math, science and writing. Student schedules are rounded out with two enrichment classes every day, including art, drama, music, physical education and Spanish. In August 2007, Drew expanded its programming for Gifted and High Achievement students.
Drew’s mission of high academic achievement is supported by an extended day ( 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and school year. Many students take advantage of the school’s Before and After School Enrichment programs – one of the most comprehensive in the state. |
Drew made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind Act for the 2006-07 school year. |
Drew Charter School is open to all children residing within the Atlanta Public Schools attendance zone. As a school of choice, no child is zoned to attend the school, but priority enrollment is given to those residing in the East Lake community. Application forms for new students are accepted from February 1 – May 1 of each year. For more enrollment information, please call 404 687-0001. |
