The physical education program at Drew is as varied as that offered at many large universities. The school is attached to the East Lake Family YMCA, which serves as the school’s physical education partner.
Another highlight of Drew’s physical education curriculum is its golf program. Drew is adjacent to the Charlie Yates Golf Course, a public, 18-hole golf course and home to The First Tee® of East Lake. All Drew students in grades 2 – 8, become a part of The First Tee of East Lake, a golf instruction and mentoring program for young people led by a talented team of instructors. The program uses the principles of golf – discipline, hard work and integrity – to enhance the academic achievement and life skills of all students. Golf also helps open doors to college scholarships, business connections and jobs.
These facilities enable Drew students to learn to play golf, swim, play tennis and more – at no additional cost to Drew families.
The After School program provides a variety of rich experiences for boys and girls to participate in intramural sports and other athletic activities thanks to the leadership and support of the University of Georgia, the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, the Women’s Sports Foundation, and others.
