College and Career Readiness

Keep your grades up and begin taking advanced courses.

Build on your extracurricular and service experiences. 

Pursue a leadership role in a club or activity. 

Visit as many college campuses as you can, and plan to attend your first overnight college trip in the spring.  

Attend college fairs at Drew and in your community. 

Make your breaks count! Consider a job, internship or academic summer program.  

Re-take the PSAT in October.

Tour college campuses. 

Continue talking with your counselor about your plans for life after high school. 

Retake the PSAT. 

Take the mock ACT Exam at Drew.

Familiarize yourself with Naviance and take the College Readiness Kickoff Survey by November 1.

Take advantage of Drew’s free, in-school, comprehensive ACT prep in January, and take the ACT for the first time.

Begin one-on-one comprehensive college planning meetings with your College Counselor.

Develop a scholarship plan with Drew’s Scholarship Coordinator.

Attend college representative visits in the CCR office throughout the fall. 

Attend the overnight junior college trip in the spring.

Continue and strengthen your involvement with extracurricular activities.

Begin building your college list and visit schools you are strongly considering.

Consider which teachers you want to ask for letters of recommendation and form strong relationships with them.

Apply to a summer enrichment program, internship, volunteer opportunity, etc., and fully take advantage of your summer!

Participate in a Mock Admissions Case Study.

Make the most of College and Career Week Activities.

Record your activities, talents and awards by completing your brag sheet in Naviance!

Begin rough drafts of college essays! Prompts are available in early to mid-summer in most cases. 

Do your best! Ask for help when you need it. Meet with your counselor frequently! 

Focus on your GPA, and take rigorous courses.  Colleges need to see that a student is on an upward academic trend, so finish on a high note! 

Utilize college application workshops on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first month of school.

Attend a college essay writing workshop at Agnes Scott College. 

Retake the SAT or ACT, if applicable. 

Apply for the Achieve Atlanta Scholarship.

Pursue an internship or job in a field of interest. 

Attend college representative visits in the CCR office. 

Apply for the East Lake Foundation’s Cousins/Eva Davis Scholarships. 

Maintain a leadership role in your extracurricular activities. Use your position to better your community. 

Enroll in Early College/Dual Enrollment Courses at Georgia State University (GSU) as part of a rigorous senior schedule.

Finalize your college list with your College Counselor.  Drew students must apply to at least 8 colleges and 10 scholarships. 

File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in October to be eligible for federal financial aid.
