Family Engagement
At Drew, we believe that students thrive when families and schools work hand-in-hand. Research consistently shows that strong family engagement leads to higher grades, better attendance, stronger motivation, and improved social-emotional well-being. These benefits hold true across all backgrounds — family involvement is one of the most powerful predictors of student success.
Family and caregiver involvement is at the heart of Drew’s mission. We are committed to hosting meaningful events, building trust, and ensuring that family voices are reflected in every aspect of our work. When families feel connected, students feel a deeper sense of belonging, which strengthens both academic achievement and personal growth.
Our Approach: The 7 C’s
We strengthen school-community partnerships by centering seven key elements of relationship-building, known as the 7 C’s:
- Communication – Open, transparent, and consistent dialogue between families and staff
- Collaboration – Working together to support student learning and growth
- Compassion & Caring – Recognizing and honoring the unique needs of every child and family
- Culture – Celebrating diversity and fostering inclusive practices
- Connection – Building meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom
- Community – Creating a supportive network where families feel valued and empowered
- Collective Responsibility – Sharing accountability for student success

Our School Family Liaison, Ms. Sherrie L. Charles, is here to help remove barriers to participation, provide support, and build authentic, lasting relationships with families. Her goal is to ensure that every caregiver feels connected, supported, and valued as part of the Drew community. Reach out to Ms. Charles at 470-355-1200 x1021 or by emailing sherrie.charles@drewcharterschool.org.
