Parent Right to Know

In compliance with the Every Student Succeeds Act requirement, Drew Charter School would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/ or paraprofessional(s). The following information may be requested:

Whether the student’s teacher –

  • Has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas where the teacher provides instruction.
  • Is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived and 
  • is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
  • Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

If you wish to request information concerning your child’s teacher’s and/ or paraprofessional’s qualifications, please contact your child’s principal.

RIGHT TO KNOW PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF TEACHERS AND PARAPROFESSIONALS

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act, parents and guardians may request information about the professional qualifications of their child’s teachers and paraprofessionals. Families may ask whether a teacher meets state certification and licensing requirements for the grade levels and subjects they teach; is teaching under an emergency or provisional credential; or is teaching within the field covered by their certification. Families may also request confirmation that a paraprofessional meets applicable qualification requirements. To request information concerning the qualifications of teachers and/or paraprofessionals, contact your academy principal.

Appendix F: Parent Request to Opt-Out Notification

In accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision in Mahmoud v. Taylor, parents and legal guardians may request that their child be excluded from instructional and supplementary materials if they believe these materials might interfere with their child’s religious growth or challenge their beliefs and practices. These materials are available for review upon written request during the first two weeks of each nine-week grading period.
